RTM launch Reel to Reel duplication service
As the leading reel-to-reel tape manufacturer, we’ve expanded our operation to offer professional album duplication services.
This is your opportunity to expand your catalogue beyond vinyl and into reel-to-reel, tapping into the fast-growing market of collectors and audiophiles who demand the purest analogue experience.
With our deep knowledge of tape formulation and product application, quality is assured - no one knows reel-to-reel better than RTM.
Whether you need short runs starting at just 10 copies or large-scale productions with no upper limit, our process delivers with unmatched efficiency.
Because we not only manufacture the tape ourselves but also handle the duplication in-house, we guarantee fast turnaround times and the highest fidelity transfers.
Our duplication set up uses a Studer A810 as the master playback deck, together with a distribution amplifier and a control and monitoring system, feeding six Revox PR99 recorders
Our choice of the Revox PR99 machines as slaves is based on several key factors: they deliver professional-grade audio quality, are reliable and easy to calibrate, and benefit from a wide availability of spare parts such as heads and electronic boards.
Designed for continuous use in professional environments such as broadcasting they ensure excellent robustness and speed stability.
Moreover, their neutral electronics make them ideal for duplication, as they preserve the integrity of the original master without adding coloration.
If you’re interested in our duplication service or would like to know more, please contact duplication.orders@recordingthemasters.com
Metropolis Studio records The Snuts live to tape
@The Boiler Shop
The Revive Live session with The Snuts brought together Metropolis Studios, Music Venue Trust, RTM Industries and a range of further partners for a full analogue capture of the band’s Boiler Shop performance in Newcastle.
Ahead of the show, the recording team ran the complete mobile rig through its paces at Metropolis, ensuring the Studer machine, signal path and gain structure were dialled in for a straight-to-tape workflow. RTM SM900 was chosen for its headroom, stability and low noise characteristics, giving the engineers the confidence to print an entire set in real time, without compromise. The Newcastle gig itself delivered exactly the kind of dynamic, crowd-driven energy that makes live-to-tape worthwhile. The tape handled every push, pull and peak of the performance.
Back in London, the same reels formed the backbone of the subsequent mixing session at Metropolis. The engineers were able to lean into the natural saturation captured on the night, creating a mix that stayed true to the performance. An interview with recording engineer Joe Bricefurther unpacked the process, from the decision to record live-to-tape through to the challenges of running an analogue signal chain in a busy venue environment. Revive Live shows what modern live recording can achieve when high-quality tape, experienced engineering and committed artists all meet in the same room. The recording will be transferred onto vinyl, ensuring a purely analogue signal path and released as part of Record Store Day 2026.
Keep Music Human
With the rise of AI music, we at RTM are on a "Keep Music Human" mission. We want to encourage bands to put in more rehearsal hours if they can and record live performances in studios. The magic that can happen when musicians connect and lock in together is a magic no computer can mimic (We Think! 😬)
The below image is the first graphic we posted and helping us get the message out there can only be good for music, musicians and recording studios. Email sara.garcia@recordingthemasters.com if you’d like us to send you the image to share with your community!
It's also vital for young artists and engineers to see their peers recording to tape and hear their passion for the process which can spark the interest needed to dive into live performance recording. If you're a studio tracking sessions to tape, please capture some clips and tag us Instagram; we’d love to share ❤️
If you're recording a well-known artist to tape, we'd love to join you to capture some content if possible! Absorbing that content would really help young artists explore live performance recording.
Rhino release Electric Warrior by T.Rex &
The Yes album by Yes on RTM tape
We are excited to announce our partnership with Rhino for the release of Electric Warrior by T.Rex and The Yes Album by Yes, available on RTM tape. We’re thrilled to partner with Rhino High Fidelity to revitalize the legendary reel-to-reel (R2R) tape format, returning to the classic era of audiophile listening as interest in this format continues to rise. Known as the gold standard for serious listeners, reel-to-reel provides unmatched studio-quality sound, allowing you to experience the magic of the master tape from the comfort of your home.
Each title in Rhino’s Reel-to-Reel series is meticulously duplicated by RTM in real-time from a 1:1 copy of the original flat analog master tape, ensuring that every release faithfully represents its source. This results in a master-quality listening experience, capturing the full dynamics of the recording without the surface noise or groove wear often associated with vinyl. Produced according to IEC standards on premium RTM LPR90 tape stock, these 15 i.p.s. half-track 1/4" reel-to-reel tapes are designed for exceptional longevity when stored properly.
The series launches with two iconic titles: T.Rex's Electric Warrior (1971) and Yes' The Yes Album (1971). Each release is limited to 500 copies worldwide and available exclusively at Rhino’s website for $299.98. Alternatively, you can purchase both titles as a bundle for $569.98.
Electric Warrior is widely regarded as Marc Bolan’s definitive work, showcasing T.Rex’s glam-rock swagger with hits like “Get It On” and “Jeepster.” This album topped the U.K. charts and is a hallmark of the glam era. A vinyl pressing of Electric Warrior will also be available this December, along with two collectible 7-inch singles.
Make it stanOn the other hand, The Yes Album marked a significant turning point for the band, introducing guitarist Steve Howe and embracing a broader sound. Featuring classics such as “Yours Is No Disgrace” and “I’ve Seen All Good People,” this album set Yes on the path to becoming one of the most influential progressive rock bands in the world.d out
Reel-to-Reel embodies RTM's commitment to premium sound while beautifully pairing essential albums with the warmth of analog. Nationally known Red Room Sound Studio - Analog Recording and Production - is on the move!
Originally located in Northwestern Connecticut, owners Mick Connolly and Lucinda Rowe have put down roots in Baldwin County Alabama. The all-analog recording studio will be located in Robertsdale, which is a city hub location when traveling to the Gulf Coast beaches. With Muscle Shoals about 5 hours away and Nashville 8 hours away, the studio sits in the lower part of a historic recording triangle offering 100% 24 track 2” analog recording.
“There are no screens in our studio at all” states Owner/Producer Mick Connolly. “There are no plug-ins, beats or multi-track programs. We still edit with a razor blade. Lucinda is our on staff vocal producer making certain that the artist gets the best vocal takes as we have no dependence on auto tune.
The duo has had their hands in analog recording for over 30 years and never moved to digital. Their love for tape and the warm sound it provided was always a selling point for them and they’ll be exclusively using RTM SM911. Both Mick and Lucinda are national recording artists who have performed with or opened for numerous international artists. Their studio in Connecticut hosted both local and well-known talent. The Allman Betts Band, Carmine Appice of Vanilla Fudge, Ricky Byrd formerly of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Atlantic Recording Artist Andy Pratt, Steve Katz of Blood Sweat and Tears and up-and-comer Joey Wit to name a few.
They fell in love with the Baldwin County area performing there on road tours for the past 15 years. Lucinda comments “The music scene on the Gulf Coast of Alabama is incredibly vibrant and popular. The venues, restaurants and events are all created around live music. The locals and the tourists alike know that they will catch some incredible talent with names you may know and some you will discover. This is a perfect place for the authenticity of an analog studio.”
“We are excited to open our doors here in Robertsdale and are looking forward to working with the talent that is in this area and the studio being a destination for those who want to be inspired by the beauty and creativity this area has to offer.” said Mick.
The Red Room Sound Studio continues to keep analog in the forefront.
